Question

Answer

I have recently become profoundly interested in Aromatherapy.  I am still in the midst of prayer to know if this is a new venture for me, a side career. Essential oils attracted me because of its many benefits and abilities.  As I was making my researches I found that a lot of aromatherapy practices were linked to the New Age movement.  I know that since these oils are derived from plants it could not be that all bad, or from a negative force, it  has to be all God, the Supreme Almighty.

My interests are so strong and enduring that I would like to take a course to become certified, and want to take the best approach to this.

Is it possible for you to share with me, an avenue in which to take to make my certification, as I don't want to be caught up in the midst of an environment that compromises my faith?  I want to remain open-minded about this, since we should live in this world and not be of it.  I don't want to judge and belittle anyone.  I just want to remain focus and be in the will of God.  Could you direct me to any information that would help?

Your website is wonderful and filled with valuable information, it is a God-send.

I hope to hear from you soon, may God bless you always.

Thank you for your wonderful help.

Best regards,

Loren

I am so glad that you are interested in becoming a certified aromatherapist, we need more Christians influencing this industry! While I was searching for a school I did not find a Christian school that offered certification. (Actually I did find one, but after reading their literature I was shocked to see how much New Age beliefs were incorporated! [http://www.ishahealing.com/] She has written two books, I bought both and was shocked at how far from Biblical truth they were.)

My personal opinion is that you should go ahead with the school you are looking at and just keep an awareness of the other religious beliefs. Perhaps before you begin do a quick study of Hinduism, Buddhism, and New Age, so that when you can recognize them.

Alternative Medicine: A Christian Handbook is a good book to add to your library. Another book that I recommend is Healing Oils of the Bible by David Stewart, just keep in mind that he is a distributor of Young Living Essential Oils, a network marketing (MLM) company. (If you want my opinion of YLEO just ask).

If you become involved in this industry you will be in the midst of New Age, Hinduism, Buddhism and other religions. So put on the full armor of God, continue in prayer and Bible study and go for it!

If you ever have any questions as you are studying I would be glad to discuss them with you!

In Him,

Naomi
